Job Introduction

Job Title: Early Years Improvement Advisor Early Years and Childcare Support Team – Lincolnshire
Salary: £48,508 - £52,761
Location: Lincoln, Lincolnshire
Closing Date: 3rd May 2026
Interviews: Thursday 21st May 2026

Are you passionate about improving outcomes for young children and supporting high‑quality early years practice across Lincolnshire?

We are seeking a committed and experienced teacher to be appointed into the role of an Early Years Improvement Advisor to join our Early Years and Childcare Support Team, supporting our shared ambition to ensure every child gets the best possible start in life.

“The opportunities to learn, grow and thrive for every one of our children must be there right from the beginning.”
Giving Every Child the Best Start in Life Strategy, July 2025

About the Role

As an Early Years Improvement Advisor, you will play a vital part in turning this ambition into reality. You will work closely with early years settings and childminders to support high‑quality provision that improves outcomes for young children and contributes to Lincolnshire’s ambition of achieving 76.6% Good Level of Development (GLD) by 2028.

You will contribute to county‑wide improvement workstreams and work collaboratively with locality colleagues, including Early Years Specialist Teachers, providers and key partners. Using your knowledge of local need, you will help shape training and cluster events, support targeted improvement activity, and participate in EYFSP agreement trialling as required.

A key aspect of the role is providing bespoke support to early years settings and childminders — whether newly registered or requiring targeted guidance following a less‑than‑expected Ofsted outcome. You will build strong professional relationships and champion a sector‑led improvement model that drives sustainable, high‑quality practice across the county.

This is a fixed term position for three years and could be suitable as a secondment for internal candidates.

About You

You will be a qualified teacher with experience of working with young children and a strong knowledge of child development and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). You will be confident working with providers to challenge and support practice, contribute to improvement planning, and work collaboratively across services.

Most importantly, you will share our commitment to improving outcomes for all children — particularly the most vulnerable — and to strengthening the quality of early years provision across Lincolnshire.

You will need to hold a UK driving license and have access to a car as travel round Lincolnshire is required.

 Why Join Us?

  • Make a real difference to outcomes for young children across Lincolnshire
  • Work as part of a knowledgeable and supportive county‑wide Early Years team, championing quality provision and improved outcomes for children.
  • Be part of Lincolnshire’s School Readiness and Early Years improvement journey

Our Offer

At Lincolnshire County Council, we are committed to supporting our workforce. In return, we offer:

  • A supportive and collaborative team environment

  • Flexible working arrangements where possible
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children, families and communities across Lincolnshire
