The Democratic Team
The Democratic Team is a new team for the Combined Authority taking over responsibility for managing Greater Lincolnshire’s Combined County Authority democratic support.
What the role will involve (set-up and transition)
The role will involve helping to set up a new committee management system for the authority as well as transferring the calendar and committee publication from the County Council who currently provide the service for the GLCCA.
Working environment and key relationships
The role requires a person with enthusiasm for the political environment and a commitment to supporting democratic decision making. The successful candidate will work at the heart of the authority alongside the Mayor, elected Members, senior officers, and will have regular contact with members of the public. The role will also need to work with our constituent authorities i.e. Lincolnshire County Council, North East Lincs Council and North Lincs Council, whose nominated members make up the combined authority alongside the elected Mayor and the non-constituent members who are appointed by the District Councils.
Meetings and management responsibility
The role will involve managing and servicing the Authority meetings around 6 times per year, the three Boards which each meet quarterly and the Overview and Scrutiny Committee and Audit Committee. The role will also involve the management of 2 other members of staff.
Personal qualities
The successful candidate will be a key contact in the Democratic Services Team so will need to be approachable and an excellent communicator, have the competence to solve problems and to work under minimal supervision.
Experience and skills
They will already have extensive knowledge of local authority decision-making together with an ability to approach politically sensitive issues with diplomacy and tact. The ideal candidate will have experience of managing a democratic team or be a senior democratic services officer looking for their first role in heading up a team. They will also need the ability to use modern IT systems, work to deadlines and produce concise and accurate summaries of sometimes complex issues.

Location and travel
The role will be based on-site in Lincoln, with occasional travel across Greater Lincolnshire and to partner locations.
