Lincolnshire County Council are looking for an experienced leader to become the Head of the Lincolnshire Music Service.

Lincolnshire Music Service is an award‑winning, forward‑thinking organisation within Lincolnshire County Council, recognised for its excellence in delivering and coordinating high‑quality music opportunities for children and young people across the county.

As the lead partner for the Lincolnshire Music Hub, we support music provision in approximately 95% of Lincolnshire schools, working with a highly skilled workforce of 80 instrumental tutors alongside a further 40 commissioned professionals and partner organisations. Through strong, trusted partnerships with schools, families and communities, we champion the power of music to inspire, connect and transform the lives of all young people.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to shape, develop and lead the future of music education in Lincolnshire, building on an established, high‑quality programme of services while driving innovation and growth. Lincolnshire is a vibrant and ambitious place for music‑making, with a strong and growing local, regional and national profile, offering an inspiring landscape in which to make a lasting impact.

We are looking for a values‑driven, people‑focused leader with a deep understanding of music education and the confidence to operate at a strategic level. You will bring a strong track record of leadership within a music service, music hub, arts organisation or school, alongside the ability to inspire, support and challenge others to deliver their best.

This role will suit someone who is collaborative and outward‑facing, comfortable working with a wide range of partners and stakeholders, and able to navigate change with creativity, resilience and clarity of purpose. You will combine a passion for high‑quality, inclusive music provision with sound judgement, financial awareness and a commitment to continuous improvement — ensuring that Lincolnshire Music Service continues to thrive, innovate and make a meaningful difference for children and young people across the county.

The office base is at the Lincolnshire Music Service head quarters in Cherry Willingham which offers excellent facilities and parking. There is the potential of hybrid working with an expectation of around three days per week in the office and the flexibility of some days working from home.
