Democratic Services is seeking to recruit a Health Scrutiny Officer to join the Scrutiny Team. The Health Scrutiny Officer is an important part of our specialist scrutiny model, and an in-depth knowledge of the National Health Service is required by the post holder as they support the external scrutiny of the NHS. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining the important link between the county council, health care providers and representatives of district councils.

 

Scrutiny at Lincolnshire County Council aims to review, support and improve existing and emerging policies and ensure that the Council and partners are providing quality services and achieving value for money

 

The service requires an enthusiastic and motivated individual, committed to excellence in their work and with a passion for the political process. The post holder will be the lead officer for the Health Scrutiny Committee and other designated scrutiny committees, and will work closely with elected councillors, in particular their chairmen and vice chairmen, and senior officers to lead and co-ordinate the work of their scrutiny committees. The post holder will also be expected to project manage scrutiny reviews undertaken by task and finish groups, and to help support councillor working groups as required

 

As a key contact in the wider Democratic Services Team, the successful candidate will need to be approachable, an excellent communicator, have the competence to solve problems and to work under minimal supervision and to tight deadlines. The successful candidate will be involved in supporting the wider Democratic Services team and assisting elected councillors, so they will need to have the ability to approach politically sensitive issues with diplomacy and tact.

 

A good knowledge of scrutiny and the decision-making process would be advantageous, but you will also receive on-going training and support from a small, friendly team as you help to promote the work of scrutiny across the council and with partner agencies
