Independent Member - Lincolnshire Police and Crime Panel

Job Introduction

Join the Lincolnshire Police and Crime Panel as an Independent Member

We’re looking for two committed and capable individuals to join the Lincolnshire Police and Crime Panel as Independent Members for a fixed four-year term.

This is a co-opted public appointment, not a salaried role, but it carries significant civic value and responsibility. The Panel plays a key role in the governance and accountability of policing in Lincolnshire by providing independent scrutiny of the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC). As an Independent Member, you will contribute to holding the PCC to account, reviewing key decisions, budget setting, and ensuring community priorities are reflected in the work of the PCC.

We are particularly interested in applicants with experience in:

  • Financial management or budget oversight

  • Governance, compliance or scrutiny

  • Local government, criminal justice, or community safety

You’ll be expected to attend at least four formal panel meetings per year, with additional time for preparation, training, and occasional sub-group work. The average commitment is approximately one day per month. Meetings are held during the daytime at Lincolnshire County Council offices, with some travel across the county for training and development.

This is a fixed-term appointment until September 2029, eligible for a co-opted member allowance of £925.41, plus reasonable travel expenses. All new members will receive an induction and appropriate training.
