The Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority is looking for a Planning Policy Officer to play a key role in developing the area's first Spatial Development Strategy and helping to shape the future of our communities, economy and environment.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of strategic planning across one of England's largest and most ambitious geographies. You will help develop evidence-based planning policies that support housing delivery, economic growth, infrastructure investment and environmental enhancement across Greater Lincolnshire.
The Role
Working within our strategic planning team, you will contribute to and lead elements of the preparation, monitoring and delivery of the Greater Lincolnshire Spatial Development Strategy. You will:
- Develop strategic planning policies and guidance.
- Work with local authorities, government departments, statutory agencies and regional partners.
- Analyse planning, economic and environmental evidence to inform policy development.
- Prepare reports and briefings for senior officers, elected members and external stakeholders.
- Manage projects and consultants to support policy development.
- Lead consultation and engagement activities with communities and stakeholders.
- Support wider strategic planning functions including Mayoral Development Orders and the Community Infrastructure Levy where required.
About You
We are looking for a motivated and ambitious individual who can combine strong analytical skills with a collaborative approach.
You will have:
- A degree-level qualification in planning, geography, environmental studies or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of planning policy, national planning guidance and planning legislation.
- Experience of research, analysis and evidence gathering.
- The ability to interpret data and use insight to support decision-making.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A strategic mindset and the confidence to work across complex policy issues.
Experience of partnership working, consultation and project management would be advantageous but is not essential.

Location and travel
The role will be based on-site in Lincoln, with occasional travel across Greater Lincolnshire and to partner locations.
