About Us: Positive Futures is a vibrant community-based project dedicated to creating safe and supportive spaces for young people. We are excited to announce an opening for a Community Sport Worker to join our dynamic team! This role is a 2-year fixed-term contract and will operate countywide.

Role Overview: As a Community Sport Worker, you will be a vital member of an exciting new project. You will work closely with Community Safety colleagues to engage children and young people in various activities. These include sports, group events, and social action initiatives. Through these activities, you will foster personal development and a sense of belonging among children and young people. Moreover, your work will contribute to reducing antisocial behaviour. Ultimately, your efforts will create a positive impact on children, young people and the wider community.

What We’re Looking For: We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated person with relevant qualifications and experience in delivering community-based sports and activity programs. You should have a warm, relational approach, enabling you to create safe spaces where young people can thrive and grow. We are looking for candidates with:

  • A level 3 or higher qualification in youth work, community sports development/coaching, or a related field
  • Nationally recognised coaching qualification(s)
  • Relevant practice experience in Children’s services or similar field
  • Knowledge of key issues affecting young people, risk-taking behaviour, and trauma-informed approaches

We have embraced new ways of working and hybrid working will be a feature of this role. You will be given a nominated contractual work base and you will be required to commute to this work base when necessary.  Working arrangements regarding hybrid working will be discussed as part of the appointment process.

Our technology platform and equipment is very good enabling you to connect and collaborate remotely. We require that you have in place good connectivity, and we will discuss during the recruitment process if support with this is needed.

Fluency Duty 

In accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 (Fluency Duty), the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
