About the Service
Commercial Services – Infrastructure is responsible for the procurement and contract management of a variety of contracts across the Council, working predominantly with colleagues across our Place and Resources directorates.
Our Senior Commercial and Procurement Officers have oversight for, and undertake, commercial activity relating to procurements and contracts on behalf of the Council. They also provide commercial advice and support on a range of other commercial projects.
You will report to the Commercial and Procurement Manager for Resources within the Commercial Infrastructure team. The role is for a 12-month fixed term to provide maternity cover. While this can only be offered as a fixed-term contract, your involvement in a variety of strategic projects will provide an excellent platform for you to develop your skills, making you better placed to take advantage of any future opportunities. About You
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience in a commercial role with involvement in achieving commercial deals, mitigating risks, and driving efficiencies.
Experience of public procurement, including the relevant law, regulations, and commercial negotiation.
Experience leading, providing support and advice, and managing effective relationships across a wide portfolio of projects.
The ability to manage demanding and competing priorities and work to tight deadlines.
The capability to work both autonomously and as part of a team, with the ability to stay calm under pressure.
Excellent analytical skills, tenacity, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the Council and externally.
