Have you been stuck in a rut but wanting to take on a new challenge. Are you a qualified lawyer looking for a great career opportunity to undertake complex law but also help to shape the legal team for the future. As well as interesting casework you will be required to help lead and supervise other staff in the team and to assist with the general management of the team. This is an exciting opportunity to join Lincolnshire County Council’s friendly and supportive Adult Care legal team, who are passionate about delivering high quality legal advice to their clients.


The role

We are looking for a confident and motivated lawyer to join our team of lawyers and legal officers in the Adult Care legal team. As a key member of the team you will:

  • Provide high quality legal advice and support on a broad range of complex adult care legal matters, covering the full spectrum of adult community care law.
  • Conduct complex Court of Protection proceedings on behalf of the Council
  • Mentor and support more junior colleagues in the team helping them to grow and develop to their best potential
  • Assist in the general management of the team
  • Work closely with Adult Social Care colleagues and the council’s partners to continue to foster existing good relationships and to continue to find new and innovative ways to deliver best practice
  • Assist with the formulation of polices and more complex or strategic work
  •  Help the service navigate any upcoming changes in this fast moving and developing area of law

About you

  • You will be a qualified: Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive and authorised to conduct litigation under the Legal Services Act 2007.
  • You will have acquired at least 3 years post qualification experience.

You will also bring:

  • An understanding and working knowledge of the Care Act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and other associated adult social care legislation
  • Experience of conducting Court of Protection proceedings
  • Confidence in undertaking advocacy
  • Experience of handling a busy and varied caseload
  • A desire to lead and supervise others to support best practice
  • A positive, effective and supportive approach to assisting with the management of the team
  • A strong desire to strengthen relationships both within the council and externally
  • Good communication skills to continue to promote and enhance
  • Good communication and IT skills
  • A collaborative, team focused approach, with strong problem-solving skills and a good sense of humour
