PURPOSE OF JOB: To contribute to the reduction of ill health and inequalities through education and raising awareness of the dangers of smoking and second-hand smoke, and youth vaping, with our children and young people in line with the Governments Tobacco Control strategy (Tobacco and vapes Bill and ‘Smokefree generation’ ambitions) and as directed by line manager
The Lincolnshire Tobacco Control Board are committed to implementing local and national Tobacco Control measures in the ever-changing landscape relating to tobacco and vaping, especially as they relate to young people.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated, good communicator, to the post of Tobacco Control Officer (Young People) based within our Trading Standards Service.
Ideally the person should have an understanding of school operations. They will be required to deliver, help produce and develop programs for schools, and other education and youth settings, including challenging settings, such as pupil referral units. Other duties will include writing content for reports etc. and presenting at forums and stakeholder meetings.
The post holder will support the work of the Senior Tobacco Control Officer, however the role will require them to work on their own initiative.
Knowledge of tobacco control or smoking cessation is desirable but not essential, as training and information will be made available to the successful candidate as part of their induction.
We are looking for a professional person with a range of experience working with young people in either an education or youth setting. This person should feel comfortable working in a challenging role, engaging with all young people to effect a reduction in uptake of smoking and vaping, or referrals to the stop smoking service.
The role does require occasional weekend and after hours working, so the post holder will need to be flexible around their working hours and an ability to travel across the county with education resources, displays etc. will be required.

- Level 3 Police Vetting clearance.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Interview Process:
As part of the interview, candidates will be required to deliver a pre-prepared presentation.
