Legal Services Lincolnshire (LSL) is shaping the future of local government legal practice. As part of our forward-thinking approach to workforce planning, we’re offering a two-year Training Contract to a passionate and ambitious individual with a strong interest in commercial and information law.
You’ll gain hands-on experience within a dynamic, friendly and supportive team advising a wide range of public sector clients; including the County Council, District Councils, and the Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority. This is an excellent opportunity to build deep sector knowledge and become part of a highly respected legal team.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll provide legal and administrative support to fee earners while steadily building your own caseload across a broad range of local government legal matters. Initially working under structured supervision, you’ll gain exposure to:
Public procurement, contract drafting and negotiation
Data protection, freedom of information, and governance matters
Advisory work for senior officers and elected members
Supporting complaint responses and compliance investigations
Advocacy (where permitted) and attendance at meetings or hearings
Your training will follow a structured programme in line with SRA requirements, enabling you to develop both contentious and non-contentious experience across various teams and disciplines within LSL.
About you
You’ll be a motivated and organised individual with:
Completion of the Legal Practice Course (LPC) by the start of the contract
A strong academic background and excellent communication skills
A genuine interest in local government and public law
The ability to adapt, take initiative, and contribute to team-based service delivery
Professionalism, discretion, and the ability to handle sensitive information
We also welcome applicants on the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) route.
