Travel Plan Officer (Schools and Planning)

We are excited to be recruiting to a new role of Travel Plan Officer (Schools and Planning).  There are two posts available.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a project to reduce congestion and improve travel for people across Lincolnshire!


The Travel Plan Officer roles are a chance to be involved in supporting our schools and local communities with travel issues. The role will lead on initiatives that promote active travel and reduce car dependency during the school run, along with leading countywide travel planning.

You will focus on enabling a shift towards walking and cycling by delivering engaging face-to-face behaviour change activities in schools and communities across Lincolnshire as well as supporting educational establishments and housing developers to create and monitor fit for purpose travel plans.

You will also work collaboratively with the Active Travel Team to support travel initiatives across the county as well as working closely with schools, colleges, local planning authorities, and colleagues from across the County Council to deliver change to modes of transport.


About You

We're looking for someone with excellent communication skills who is comfortable speaking to a variety of different people, whether it's school children, planning officers or travel companies. You'll have experience of delivering projects and be excited to have the opportunity to shape our travel plan strategies.


This is a two year fixed term contract but there is the possibility that the contract will be extended, subject to funding.

We have embraced new ways of working and hybrid working will be a feature of this role. You will be given a nominated contractual work base and you will be required to commute to this work base when necessary.  Working arrangements regarding hybrid working will be discussed as part of the appointment process.

Our technology platform and equipment is very good enabling you to connect and collaborate remotely. We require that you have in place good connectivity, and we will discuss during the recruitment process if support with this is needed.

Fluency Duty 

In accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 (Fluency Duty), the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
