We’re looking for a Democratic Services Assistant to join a team that supports smooth governance within GLCCA. You will help support elected Members, senior officers and partners, contributing to transparent, effective and well-governed decision-making.
What you’ll be doing
Supporting the organisation of meetings, ensuring agendas and minutes are published.
Providing comprehensive administrative support across the democratic services function.
Helping ensure published reports meet agreed standards, supporting openness, transparency and accessibility.
Signposting and advising Members, officers and external stakeholders on the Constitution and relevant legislation, as required.
Monitoring the democratic services inbox, responding to queries or forwarding to the right colleague.
Using political awareness to help ensure meetings proceed in a lawful and timely manner.
Building strong working relationships across GLCCA and with external stakeholders.
What we’re looking for
Essential
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent).
Understanding of the political nature of local government, including confidentiality and sensitivity.
Strong written English and attention to detail.
Effective time management and ability to prioritise workloads.
Good IT skills, confident learning and implementing new systems, including facilitating meetings via Microsoft Teams.
Awareness of regional and national developments, with political awareness.
Desirable
Understanding of the role of a Combined County Authority.

Location and travel
The role will be based on-site in Lincoln, with occasional travel across Greater Lincolnshire and to partner locations.
