Salary: £39,152 to £42,839
Location: Lincoln, with occasional travel across Greater Lincolnshire

The Democratic Team
The Democratic Team is a new team created to take over responsibility for managing Greater Lincolnshire’s Combined County Authority meetings and democratic support.

Committee management system and publications
The role will need to support the implementation of the new committee management system for the calendar of meetings and committee publication. The current system is hosted by the County Council who currently carry out the authority’s committee management.


Working environment and key relationships
The role requires a person with enthusiasm for the political environment and a commitment to supporting democratic decision making. The successful candidate will work at the heart of the authority alongside the Mayor, elected Members, senior officers, and will have regular contact with members of the public. The role will also need to work with our constituent authorities i.e. Lincolnshire County Council, North East Lincs Council and North Lincs Council, whose nominated members make up the combined authority alongside the elected Mayor and the non-constituent members who are appointed by the District Councils.


Meetings and team working
The role will involve helping to support the Authority meeting and the three Boards which each meet quarterly and the Overview and Scrutiny Committee and Audit Committee. The role will be part of the team which each member taking on responsibility for specific meetings as well as providing cover where necessary for each other.


Personal qualities
The successful candidate will be a key contact in the Democratic Services Team so will need to be approachable and an excellent communicator, have the competence to solve problems and to work independently.


Experience and skills
They will already have knowledge of local authority decision-making together with an ability to approach politically sensitive issues with diplomacy and tact. The ideal candidate will have experience of working as part of a democratic team. They will also need the ability to use modern IT systems, work to deadlines and produce concise and accurate summaries of sometimes complex issues.


Additional responsibility
This role will also support the Monitoring Officer to handle member complaints and keep a log of the progress of each complaint.

Location and travel
 The role will be based on-site in Lincoln, with occasional travel across Greater Lincolnshire and to partner locations.
