About the role
This is a critical role within the Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority. You will work in a busy communications team engaging stakeholders across the public and private sector, including 1.1 million residents, 39,000 businesses and 32.2 million visitors. You will help improve our reach and impact, ensuring messages resonate and are understood. 

What you’ll be doing

  • Provide proactive and reactive public relations and news services, including handling press enquiries, creating digital content, arranging photo calls, broadcast interviews and briefings, and coordinating prepared statements. 

  • Lead on strategic communications and marketing planning across the CCA, acting as communications lead on high-level briefings and project meetings with the Chief Operating Officer, Mayor and senior leaders. 

  • Identify opportunities for positive media coverage and respond quickly to limit negative coverage, contributing to risk analysis and monitoring/evaluating media coverage. 

  • Work with district communications teams, PCCs, MPs, HE/FE and wider stakeholders to align messaging, showcase developments and manage relationships. 

  • Develop media contacts to obtain coverage across channels, and prepare reactive statements for senior officers, the Mayor and Elected Members. 

  • Research and write news releases, newsletter content and features; advise colleagues on handling media requests and maximising publicity for events and initiatives. 

  • Contribute to creative, effective marketing and campaigns; ensure appropriate representation at regional and national events and exhibitions. 

  • Support commissioning and management of external comms/marketing support; support development and review of communications strategies. 

  • Lead on graphic design to support campaigns and projects; contribute to internal communications via newsletters, bulletins and social media. 

  • Monitor effectiveness of communications activities, analyse data and produce reports as required; undertake other duties commensurate with the role. 

About you
You bring significant experience of communications activity and planning, with professional knowledge of a communications discipline. You have diplomacy, tact and political judgement, excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, and excellent IT skills. You can take accurate briefs, advise clients, meet tight deadlines, prioritise workloads and maintain attention to detail. You work effectively in a team and independently, with awareness of local government political systems, best-practice tools and emerging channels, service standards, copyright and communications law, and council systems and policies. A professional qualification such as NCTJ or CIPR is desirable. 


The role will be based on-site in Lincoln with a regular requirement to travel.
