You’ll also take a central role in quarterly strategic planning, influencing prioritisation and investment decisions, and helping ensure that digital change is aligned with the council’s strategic goals.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll manage product backlogs, drive roadmap alignment, and foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Owning the product strategy and backlog for complex, high-impact products

  • Taking part in programme increment (PI) planning and agile ceremonies

  • Representing product priorities in strategic planning alongside senior leaders

  • Translating business needs into actionable user stories and prioritised workstreams

  • Managing stakeholder expectations, feedback loops, and business engagement

  • Coordinating delivery with suppliers and holding partners to account on quality and velocity

  • Embedding agile methodologies, including SAFe, Scrum, and Lean practices

  • Driving value through continuous product optimisation and benefit realisation

  • Promoting adoption of technologies such as Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform, and ArcGIS

You’ll bring:

  • Experience managing supplier delivery and holding external partners to account

  • A strategic mindset with the ability to influence investment decisions

  • Confidence managing high-volume backlogs and working across multiple products

  • Understanding of digital governance frameworks such as GDAD

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform, and geospatial tools like ArcGIS is a plus

Why Join Us?

  • Shape the digital roadmap of a large, values-led organisation

  • Be a key voice in a forward-thinking IT leadership team

  • Hybrid working with genuine flexibility and work-life balance

  • Structured CPD, including membership of the British Computer Society

  • Work alongside sector-leading technologists and experienced delivery partners
