About the Role

This is a senior technical leadership role, reporting to the Head of Strategy, Architecture & Product. You’ll lead a small team of Solution Architects, oversee the work of technical engineering resources across our Agile Product Teams, and act as chair of the council’s Digital Design Authority (DDA).

Your role will be to define and maintain enterprise-level solution architecture across a diverse portfolio of services, while supporting our adoption of Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform, and cloud-native tools. You’ll deputise at senior boards, influence investment decisions, and provide high-level assurance of all supplier-led designs.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading a team of Solution Architects and overseeing technical assurance across multiple Agile delivery teams

  • Owning and evolving LCC’s strategic solution architecture framework and roadmap

  • Chairing the Digital Design Authority (DDA) and governing solution-level architecture decisions

  • Collaborating with Product Owners, Strategic Business Partners, and delivery partners

  • Driving scalable, secure and performant technical solutions that align with business and user needs

  • Assuring 3rd-party architectural designs and supplier engagement

  • Supporting governance, cyber resilience, data architecture, and cloud optimisation

  • Championing a modern, product-based service model across IT and digital

  • Contributing to continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and architectural maturity

About You

You’re already operating at a senior level - and ready for more influence. You bring a blend of technical credibility, people leadership, and strategic thinking.

You’ll have:

  • Significant experience in solution architecture, with a track record in technical assurance

  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g. Azure), Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform, and integration standards

  • Experience chairing or contributing to architectural governance boards

  • A collaborative approach and the confidence to influence senior stakeholders

  • A clear understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF), ITIL, and security-by-design principles

  • A passion for mentoring and building architectural capability in teams
