Overview

Mayor Jenkyns is seeking a dedicated and proactive Caseworker to join her team at the Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the casework function within a newly formed authority, supporting the Mayor’s office in responding to public enquiries and managing constituent issues across a high-profile agenda.

The successful candidate will play a key role in establishing systems and procedures for managing casework, ensuring timely, sensitive, and accurate responses to a wide range of queries. This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 12 months, offering a chance to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic and evolving political environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Casework Management

    • Develop and implement systems and procedures for managing casework within the Mayor’s Office and GLCCA.
    • Handle a high volume of standard queries and assist with more complex cases via phone, email, social media, and face-to-face interactions.
    • Log, monitor, and track all cases, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution.
    • Draft professional responses to constituents and ensure appropriate actions are taken.
  • Research & Analysis

    • Conduct thorough investigations into casework involving GLCCA services and partners.
    • Gather background information, interview stakeholders, and prepare detailed responses.
    • Analyse patterns in enquiries and produce reports to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Compliance & Confidentiality

    • Ensure all casework is managed in line with data protection legislation and internal policies.
    • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all correspondence and actions taken.
  • Support & Collaboration

    • Assist with mayoral meetings and follow-up actions.
    • Provide general administrative support to the Mayor’s Office as required.
    • Contribute to a small, committed team and support colleagues in a fast-paced environment.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Previous casework experience, particularly in areas such as immigration, housing, or welfare.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload and work well under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage constituent expectations in challenging circumstances.
  • Experience developing and testing new systems, with the ability to train others.
  • Works well in a small team and demonstrates flexibility and initiative.

Desirable:

  • Good IT skills, including familiarity with casework systems and MS Office applications.
  • Ability to draft professional correspondence to a high standard.
  • Willingness to undertake training and develop specialist knowledge.

Additional Information

  • The role requires regular travel and a flexible approach to working hours.
  • The postholder is expected to uphold GLCCA’s values and contribute to organisational transformation.
  • Safeguarding awareness is essential, and all employees must follow GLCCA’s safeguarding policies when working with vulnerable individuals.

The role will be based on-site in Lincoln with a regular requirement to travel.
